    Died:
Joyce Katherine Fields, 92, of Midland, Texas, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. "One thing I have desired of the LORD, That I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life." The family received friends Friday, February 3, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Midland Bible Church 5900 Whitman Dr, in Midland, Texas. Joyce was born October 25, 1924 on a farm in Archer County, Texas to DeCal and Grace DuBose. Determining at an early age that farm life was not for her, and being fiercely independent, she left home at age 16 to find her way in life. She served her country during World War II on a military base in Lafayette, Louisiana. After completing business school, Joyce settled into a career as a legal secretary, retiring after 40 years of service with Kerr, Fitzgerald & Kerr in Midland. Always energetic and enthusiastic, she was gracious, loving, and loyal to everyone she encountered. Over the years, she opened her home and heart to so many people who were either in need or just visiting from out of town. Gardening was her passion, and in every season, you would find her digging in the West Texas dirt tending to her "babies." She loved her family unconditionally and treasured her time with them no matter where or when. She was a longtime member of Midland Bible Church where she had so many friends and acquaintances. She loved being involved in her small group and Bible studies which she often hosted with joy. She put the 'joy' in Joyce. Joyce will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have had her in their lives. She is survived by her children; daughter, Deborah McCurdy of Midland, and son, Royce Fields and wife Suzanne of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Alan McCurdy and wife Cami of Midland, and Anna Fields of Houston; great-grandchildren, Christopher Andrews of Lubbock, Texas and Alyssa Rogers and husband Brandon of Converse, Texas; along with two great-great-grandchildren, Aiden and Oliver. She was preceded in death by her parents, DeCal and Grace DuBose. The family would like to express their gratitude toward the caring staff from Compass Hospice, Crossland Care Inc., Midland Memorial Hospital, HealthSouth, and University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Midland Bible Church or Compass Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
