Obituary for Bobbie Jo Carter Reaves
ALCOLU – Bobbie Jo Carter Reaves, 78, wife of Lee Edmondson Reaves, Sr., died Friday, August 18, 2017, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence.
Born June 17, 1939, in Pamplico, she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah Hill Carter and the late Tyra Parvenu Lee Carter. She was a retired law partner with Land, Parker and Reaves Law Firm and a retired Clarendon County Drug Court Justice. She was a Rotarian, a Civitan and a member of the Clarendon County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, the Clarendon Christian Learning Center Board, Sumter Women’s Forum and the Back Porch Players. She was an active member of New Harmony Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for 44 years.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years of Alcolu; two sons, “Lee” Edmondson Reaves, Jr. of Alcolu and James Hill “Jim” Reaves (Stacey) of Gable; two sisters, Dorothy Ard (Charlton) and Violet Moody (Michael), both of Manning; five grandchildren, Wade Edmondson Reaves, Stephen Martin Reaves, McKenzie Elizabeth Morehouse, Jacob Carter Reaves and Madison Fuller Reaves; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl Carter, Jimmie Carter, Johnnie Carter and Joseph Carter; and a sister, Pearle Carter Benton.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at New Harmony Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Gordon K. Reed officiating. Burial will follow in DuRant-New Harmony Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Len Brown, Steve Welch, Thomas DuRant, Joe Wilson, Bob McNair and Robby Elmore.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Board of Deacons and the Session of New Harmony Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church and other times at the residence, 12453 N. Brewington Road, Alcolu.
Memorials may be made to New Harmony Presbyterian Church, 1174 New Harmony Church Road, Alcolu, SC 29001.

MANNING – Violet Carter Bradham Moody, 85, wife of Michael L. Moody, died Wednesday, December 14, 2022, peacefully at her home surrounded by family.
Born November 11, 1937, in Pamplico, she was a daughter of the late Elder Jeremiah Hill Carter and the late Tyra Lee Carter. She was a retired administrative assistant and a member of Manning First Baptist Church. She loved her time square dancing, singing with the Back Porch Players of Manning, and she was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 68 in Manning.
She is survived by her husband of Manning; a son, Bill Bradham (Alison) of Burleson, TX; two stepdaughters, Patty Roussin (Jeff) of Castle Pines, CO and Susan Gleason (Bob) of Little Rock, AR; a sister, Dorothy Ard (Charlton) of Manning; ten grandchildren, Rick Bradham (Nicole) of Lakeland, FL, Brittany Zeier and Austin Zeier, both of San Antonio, TX, Wesley Miles of Orlando, FL, Corbin Miles (Stephanie) of West Hills, CA, John Roussin of San Antonio, TX, Dillon Roussin of Castle Pines, CO, Cody Gleason (Natalie) of Dallas, TX, Katy Gleason of Little Rock, AR, and Matthew Gleason of Conway, AR; six great-grandchildren, Kindrick and Kaiden Bradham, Leeland, Killian and Olive Miles, and Henry Gleason; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Lisa Zeier; two sisters, Bobby Reaves and Pearl Benton; and three brothers, Johnnie Carter, Jimmy Carter and Earl Carter.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Manning First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Manning Cemetery.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at Manning First Baptist Church and other times at the residence, 1045 Pebble Lane, Manning.
